Local Area
We are located in the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The facilities that this location offers are excellent, providing a quiet stroll with the dog, to the more strenuous exercise for the serious walker or mountain biker – all in a traffic free area.
Coombe Bissett Down Nature Reserve is a block of down land purchased by the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and lies within 1/2 mile of the park, which is a haven to flora and fauna.
The village of Coombe Bissett is a pleasant 1.5 mile walk off road, or 2.5 miles by car. The village has a well stocked shop, Commbe Bissett Stores and Post Office, a good public house, The Fox and Goose, which also serves food and a church.
In spite of being “Far from the Madding Crowd” (you can see Hardy’s Dorset from the site), you are within easy reach of Salisbury (15 minute drive to the City centre, click here to download a street map) with its world famous spire, the World Heritage Site and prehistoric monument of Stonehenge, the New Forest with its native ponies, the local villages with their thatched cottages and the coast with its safe beaches.
We also have dark skies which enable you to clearly see the stars.
